February 22, 2008

P.O. Box 455
Cherokee, NC 28719

Dear Principal Chief, Michell Hicks:

The Cherokee Alliance Committee, meeting at Yellowhill, have voiced their concerns that they would like to see at least one elder, who resides in and who will be decided by each township, sitting on the constitutional committee as provided by Tribal Council Resolution No. 36 approved 04/26/06. We also request that at least two additional Tribal members from each township sit as members of the constitutional committee, one active and one alternate.

Considering the period of time that has elapsed between the passing of Tribal Council Resolution No. 36 until the present, our knowledge of and ability to seek community input into this process has been severely limited.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and we look forward to your expedient response.

Sincerely,

Signed, Officers of the CAEG Team
